For a long time, I was a loyal fan of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. Nothing else was good enough for my brows. Then I discovered the NYX Micro Brow Pencil and quickly ditched the Brow Wiz. Not only is it much more affordable, but dare I say, better. I am still faithful to my Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel that locks my brows into place.

Earlier this month, Colourpop had an amazing sale and I took advantage. Two of my favorite purchases from that order are their Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in Wisp which is a really beautiful champagne highlight and their Super Shock Cheek Blush in Prenup.

The bareMinerals MATTE Foundation was a recommendation from a makeup artist at Sephora. When I first tried it, I wasn’t sure I liked it. I have always used liquid foundations and the powder formula really threw me off. After using it for a good amount of time, I can say with certainty that I love it. This foundation feels so soft and lightweight it on my skin.

I have been a fan of the Living proof haircare line for awhile now. So far, every product I have tried, I have loved. Their control hairspray and dry shampoo are some of my favorites. One haircare product that I absolutely cannot live without is the it’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product.

One of my favorite books that we read this quarter in my Feminist Theories class was hands down Sister Outsider by Audre Lorde. Lines like, “Your silence will not protect you,” serve as a daily reminder to me to speak up.

In May, I switched from Spotify to Apple Music and it is a decision that I do not regret, but the album that I have been listening to non-stop has been Lemonade. Enough said, right?

I had to give the lovely Ana Duarte a mention in my current favorites, not only because she’s one of my favorites, but because she inspired me to get back into blogging. I am obsessed with her blog and her Instagram feed.

May was a difficult month for me. I’m not going to go into too much detail about it, but in short I was feeling very negative about myself and about my life. I was watching one of Mimi Ikonn‘s videos where she talked about the app that she created along with her husband and their friend called Five Minute Journal. It really help put my life into perspective and forced me to focus on the positive aspects of my life rather than the negative.

If you follow me on Snapchat, you will recognize my Star Wars Baseball Hat that I purchased while I was in Disneyland back in December. To say that I am obsessed with this hat would be an understatement. I love it so much that I literally want to wear it all the time.

Sincerely,
Alexis Renae Griggs
