Look Good, Feel Good with Aarron Griggs

am starting a brand new series over on my YouTube channel called “Look Good, Feel Good.” I am a firm believe that when you look good, you feel good. What looks good to me, will look different for someone else, and I want to know what makes others feel good, what they wear, and how they wear it. It only felt right to do my first installment of this series with Aarron. He’s a self-proclaimed sneakerhead and the star of AarronGTV. He also happens to be my brother. I hope you enjoy.

Sincerely,

December 7th

On December 7th, 1966 my mother Jowell Lynn Samson was born. When I was 16 years-old, she passed away. Rather than focusing on her death, I decided to celebrate her life instead. On December 7th, wear something purple. Purple was her favorite color. Wear something purple, take a photo of yourself, upload it to your social media platforms, and use the hashtag #HappyBirthdayJojo. I am choosing to celebrate her life and I hope you will join me. December 7th. Mark your calendars.

24

The other day someone asked me who or what motivated me. “Me,” I said, “I motivate myself.” I hesitated with my response and immediately felt the need to apologize for it, but the reality is, I’m not sorry. Don’t get me wrong, there are certainly other people in my life who inspire me, but when it comes to motivating myself, I am the one who’s in control. One of the biggest lessons I have learned, not just this past year, but in life in general, is that sometimes you have to be your own #1 fan and biggest supporter. I have learned not to depend on anyone else, but myself, when it comes to my happiness. I once read a quote somewhere by Kyoko Escamilla that said,

Your 20’s are your ‘selfish’ years. It’s a decade to immerse yourself in every single thing possible. Be selfish with your time, and all the aspects of you. Tinker with shit, travel, explore, love a lot, love a little, and never touch the ground.

So, I’m going to continue to learn, to grow, and to be a better person than I was the day before. I’m going to continue to be my own source of motivation and happiness. I’m going to continue to be selfish and to never touch the ground. Cheers to 24.

What’s in My Bag

They say you can tell a lot about a person by the contents of their bag. I’m not sure who they is or if this holds true, but today I’m showing you what I carry in my bag. Much of my adolescence was spent carrying around oversized bags. People would ask me, “What do you have in that bag?” to which I would always respond, “My entire life, duh.” More recently, however, I’ve made the transition from oversized bags that were filled to the brim with things I really didn’t need to smaller shoulder bags with only essentials.

My go-to bag right now is this beauty from SheIn. It’s small enough to carry around, but big enough to carry around all of my essentials. My essentials include the obvious like my keys, my wallet, and my phone. I also carry around the keys to my locker at work and my prescription glasses which are from BonLook. I always try to remember to bring some type of chapstick or lip balm to keep my lips hydrated throughout the day like my handy dandy First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy. I like to throw whatever lip color I’m wearing that day into my bag in case I need to reapply. On this particular day I wore Colourpop’s Hotline Lippie Stix in their Matte X finish. I always carry around one my favorite scents in rollerball form. Lately I’ve been wearing I am Juicy by Juicy Couture. Last but not least, tampons. I’ve recently made the switch from store bought tampons to 100% organic cotton tampons from Lola.

There you have it. That’s what’s in my bag. What’s in your bag? Let me know in the comments below.

4 Ways to Style a Dress

If you saw my clothing rack right now, you’d see that it’s filled with mostly basic pieces. I love basics because they’re versatile and easy to style. Today, I’m showing you how I style one of my favorite basic pieces – a dress. I’m hoping to make this into a series of videos where I show you how to style basic pieces to make them, well, less basic.

Which look was your favorite? Let me know in the comments below.
