Winter Essentials

If you followed my former blog Paper Tigress then you may remember my Polyvore sets. I have recently fell back in love with making Polyvore sets and have since wondered why I ever stopped making them in the first place? They’re a great source of inspiration and I have so much fun putting them together. Since we are in the dead of Winter today I am bringing you my Winter essentials.

1. A HOT BEVERAGE

I would personally like to thank Starbucks for getting me through the madness that is and was the holiday season. There is nothing quite like a hot beverage on a cold day. My go-to drink is an iced vanilla chai.

2. BOOTS

Boots have been and continue to be a staple in my life and in my wardrobe. They make my life so easy and effortless. I am a firm believer that a pair of boots can go with everything. I can quickly put together an outfit, throw on a pair of boots, and I am good to go.

3. ILLUMINATING FACE PRIMER

While I have oily skin, during the colder months, my face tends to be drier than usual. I find that while a matte foundation works wonders for me during hotter months that during the colder months they can make my skin look dry and dull. That’s where illuminating face primers come in. I love using an illuminating face primer mixed in with my foundation to give my skin that radiant glow.

4. COAT

This is a no brainer. Whenever I have been stupid enough to brave the cold without a coat on I can just hear my mother saying, “Where is your coat?”

5. OVERSIZED SWEATERS

Much like boots, oversized sweaters have also been and continue to be a staple in both my life and wardrobe. I prefer my sweaters to have some sort of mockneck or turtleneck to them.

6. TIGHTS

A pair of black tights is an easy way to transition your Spring and Summer pieces into an outfit that’s more appropriate and warmer for Fall and Winter. Where would I be without a trusty pair of black tights?

7. A BOLD LIP

There’s just something about wearing a bold lip during Winter that I am drawn to. Perhaps it’s because the weather is dull and dreary, for lack of better words, and a bold lip seems to brighten the day.

8. HIGHLIGHTER

I am all about achieving healthy glowing skin right now. Colourpop, in my opinion, makes some of the best highlighters. Plus they’re so affordable! My favorites are Wisp, Lunch Money, and Churro.

9. MOISTURIZER

Moisturizer has become an essential part of my life. One of my favorite moisturizers is First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration. This stuff is great because you can use it on your face, hands, and everywhere else on your body.

10. FUZZY SOCKS

Fuzzy socks not only do a great job at keeping my feet warm and cozy, but they also come in such a wide variety of fun colors and patterns. I am definitely a fan.

The Pink Slip

Now that I am officially finished with my undergraduate degree, I want to focus more of my attention on my blog and my YouTube channel. When I first dived into the world of blogging with Paper Tigress, all I did was outfit posts and now with A.R.G. I don’t do enough outfit posts. I want to incorporate more outfit posts here on blog which has been difficult as of lately due to the weather here in California. But alas with some luck I had a few hours, when it wasn’t pouring rain, to take outfit photos.

About a month ago, I tweeted how I have been very into the slip dress trend lately and a month later, I still am. It hasn’t been easy finding a slip dress that suits me and my body. I wanted something that was simple and loose fitting. When I came across this one from Boohoo, I immediately ordered it. One of the things that attracts me to slip dresses is how simple yet elegant they are. Versatility is something I look for whenever I’m shopping I because that way you get more bang for your buck. A slip dress can be dressed up or down. It can be worn alone, with an oversized cardigan for an effortless boho look, a leather jacket to add more of an edge, or layered like I did today.

Winter Hymns

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetI still remember the days when I would burn a playlist of songs on CDs for my friends. Admittedly, I still burn CDs for my car especially when I used to travel back and forth between Washington and California. My point is I love making playlists. Whether they’re playlists about growth, rainy days, or roses. I’m hoping to make this a monthly thing where I share a playlist of songs that I have composed. I myself love discovering new music and learning about other people’s tastes in music. That is what I hope you’ll find here. You can listen to my “Winter Hymns” playlist here and be sure to follow me on Spotify for more playlists.

What’s on My Face

That being said, my makeup routine has definitely changed since the last time I did a “What’s on My Face” post back in June.
