One Year Later

I think of where I was at this moment in time. It was May 23rd, 2016. I was a 23 year-old living in the state of Washington on the verge of graduating college with her bachelor’s degree. I had a lot on my plate, too much, in fact, but that is another story for another time. When I first started this blog, I said, “I have no idea where this blog will take me. I have no idea what it will or could become.”

When I am asked either in interviews or in causal conversations about what my 10 year plan is I usually give a heavy sigh and explain how much I detest 10 year plans because honestly who knows what the hell will happen in 10 years. All I can ever hope for is to continue to learn, to grow, and to be happy.

One year later and I still don’t have my shit together. One year later and I still have no idea where this blog will take me or what it will or could become. So here’s to another year. Another year of learning, growing, happiness, not knowing what the hell I’m doing, and trying to get my shit together.

Sincerely,
Alexis Renae Griggs

  1. Then there’s the time you got it all together, and the floor falls out beneath you and you have reassess, adjust and start over. Live each day to the fullest, enjoy, explore, learn, cause who knows when there is no more…..Love You…

  2. Reading this gave me a sigh of relief I appreciate. I don’t see a person to compare my lack of shit-togetherness with. Instead, I felt the spirit of a person with an unbroken faith in the untold rewards of their struggle. Here’s to another year!

    1. I’m glad I could give you that sigh of relief! I think often times we assume everyone “has their shit together” because of social media. When the reality is we’re only seeing a small fraction of people’s lives and typically we only choose to show the best parts of ourselves (usually) but I don’t think anyone really ever has their shit together.
